Porza was formerly called "Portia", from the Latin "portio" meaning "portion"; part of something. In this case, this refers to a portion of land that belonged to the Trevi castle, built around 1168 - 1190.
In 1946, the whole territory of the Lugano Valley, of which Porza was a part, came under the dominion of the Visconti and was disbanded by the dependence of Como.
In the XV century, it appeared as a town and even included Trevano, Cornaredo and Resega, but still depended in a spiritual manner on the Comano parish.
The "free farmers" and "servant farmers" that inhabited this land of Porza obtained a certain freedom under the Brocchi (or De Brochis, family feuding with the Trevano castle in 1168) after the XIII century, and with the Sanseverinos in the first half of the XV century; lacking secure documentation, we dare affirm that the beginning of the "Vicinia" of Porza can be placed in this historical period.
What do we mean by "Vicinia"? The term traces its origins to the Roman Vicinitas, namely the association of different areas, both because of common interest and because of the citizenry's ownership. The inhabitants of these areas, the neighbors, owned land in common, over which each had their own rights of use but not ownership.
In 1626, the seniors of the Vicinia were invited by Monsignor Carafino, bishop, to sign an order which stated "... and that the proceeds of "the bread of votes" be distributed no more, but used for the needful church...".
This tradition is maintained today with the distribution by the Patrician of bread to the faithful on St. Martin's day.

The Residence is made up of 4 apartments subdivided into 2 blocks linked by a common stairway with lift that allows access to the entrance. The principal entrance is accessible via an external stairway on Via Paniscera, a second stairway located near the building leading to the yard, the common pool and to Via S. Francesco.
Vehicle access to the garage is via the private roade Paniscera. The steep private drive will be endowed with an electric coil heating system automatically active at 0 degrees celcius to avoid the danger of ice in the cold season.
The garage is accessible via a ramp with a slope of 9% and has 8 parking spaces: 2 for each apartment. On the same floor we find the common shelter.
The East building has, on the ground floor, apartment nr. 1, 128 m² in area, with 4.5 rooms and a private garden. On the 1st floor is apartment nr. 3, 128 m² and 4.5 rooms with private roof garden.

On the -1st floor are the private basements; apartments nos. 1 and 3 have direct access via an internal stairway, while apartments 2 and 4 access the basement via the main stairway.
The load-bearing structure of the house is made of reinforced concrete, covered on the outside by a layer of thermal insulation, an air chamber and a decorative white Leca-brick covering.
Inside, the walls and ceilings are plaster, while the floors will be natural stone: slabs of travertine for almost all rooms of the day area and stairs, and strips of teak for the bedrooms.
Trimmings will be dark-colored, thermolacquered and aluminum, with thermal insulation and double insulating windows. The roof of the house is made up of a reinforced cement structure.
For the heating of the apartments there is an air-water thermopump heating system and floor-serpentine heating distribution, assisted by efficient thermal insulation, according to standing regulations.
